Create your own Keffiyeh inspired earrings using the free pattern below. The keffiyeh is a traditional headdress that has become synonymous with the Palestinian cause. This design honours the Palestinian people, their craft and their history.
When I first received a request for me to custom make a pair of keffiyeh inspired earrings, I could not find an available pattern, or examples of beadwork that tried to replicate the distinctive fishnet pattern of the keffiyeh. I was largely inspired by Tatreez, an ancient embroidery technique of the Palestinian people that is still very much alive today, and have designed the bead weaving in the spirit of that.
I would like to acknowledge that I am borrowing from the craft and heritage of the Palestinian people in creating this pattern. I hope that you will wear the beadwork you create from this pattern with pride and solidarity.
